Explore… My Items

The ‘My Items’ list can be used to store items which are used across multiple pages or apps. Saved items retain all of their pre-configured settings (except their name) allowing you to quickly duplicate elements, speed up development time and standardise common items.

Areas can also be saved to the ‘My Items’ list which stores not only the Area, but also any Items nested inside. When added, new items are independent of the item used for the template, allowing changes to be made without affecting other items.

1. Saving Items

Once you have configured your item(s) with all of their required settings, you can choose to save them to the ‘My Items’ section. To achieve this, use the pencil symbol in the upper right corner of the Page Editor to enable Edit Mode.

To indicate which item(s) should be saved, press on the item to highlight it in blue. You can then select the ‘Add to My Items‘ button (represented by a Storage Box) to save the item.

Note that if you select multiple individual items, these will be saved as separate ‘My Items’. If you wish multiple items to be saved together, add them to an area (e.g. Scrollable Area, Group) and select the area when saving the item. This will not only store the area, but also all of the items nested inside.

The name of the stored item will be taken from the ‘Name’ field of the item/area you have chosen to save. Whilst multiple saved items can use the same name, it is recommended that this field is updated prior to saving in order to reflect the purpose of the item.

If you wish to edit an existing item, you can add it to a page from the ‘My Items’ section and carry out the necessary pages. The old item can then be deleted, and the modified item re-saved to ‘My Items’.

2. Using My Items

Once you have saved at least one item, a new ‘My Items‘ section will be displayed within the Toolbox. This is only available on the Page Editor, and will list all of the items separated into categories based on the type of item which has been saved.

To add one of the saved items to an app, simply use the grab handle on the right hand side of the item to drag it onto the page. If you choose to update any of the item’s settings, these will not affect the original item nor any copies created from the same ‘My Item’.

Note that when the item is added to a page, the name will be updated to prevent duplication.

3. Deleting Items

If a saved item is not longer required, it can be removed from the Infinity App Studio. This is achieved by dragging the My Item onto the Page Editor, and dropping it on the bar at the top of the screen which states ‘Drop here to remove‘.

4. Import & Export

As the list of My Items is unique to each installation of CommonTime Infinity, the App Studio includes both import and export features for saved items. This allows you to use a item across multiple different installations, or pass it to other developers.

The import and export buttons can be found within the ‘My Items‘ section of the Studio Settings screen.

The export feature will include all stored items, and can be copied either in a JSON or URL format. The import button can be used to import either an individual item, or an entire collection.

If an item is exported from one version of CommonTime Infinity and imported into another, the Studio may display an Upgrade Report to outline changes which were made to the item during the import process.
